This is a really good question.

I am not a physician, and don't know a lot about brain injuries. But I did find a recent article in Time Magazine that might provide you with some insight. Here is a link:

If you have had a concussion or know someone who did, this would be a really good question to ask a physician, and to explore if further treatment is needed.

Depression is a common problem after having a concussion. About half of all people with concussion are affected by depression within the first year after injury. If you have symptoms of depression, it is important to seek professional help as soon as possible, preferably with a health care provider who is familiar with it.
